Chamber President Ian Donaghey MBE and Neville Moore, Director of Causeway Chamber attended a private reception with Prime Minister David Cameron organised by NI Conservatives. The gathering followed the Economic Investment Conference held at Titantic on Friday 11th October.
Chamber representatives had the opportunity to speak to the Prime Minister on the relocation of DVA to Swansea and the implications this would have on our town. They also highlighted the imbalance in commercial rates and how many businesses hoped that the current rates revaluation would rebalance town centre business rates with out of town shopping.
The importance of Corporation Tax being introduced in Northern Ireland was also debated during the brief meeting. The Chamber believes that the economy would benefit from a lower corporation tax rate and would encourage foreign direct investment in Northern Ireland.
Chamber representatives also had the opportunity to raise Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) which are currently topical and the Portas Pilot Town Teams which are set to be piloted in Northern Ireland following successful schemes across mainland UK.
